Trick or Treating 2010

Remember the tragedy of last year??? The cutest costumes ever on the most unhappiest of toddlers???

This year we turned it around!!! Even sporting red yarn wigs, my kids almost smiled!!!! This is progress people!!!!!
Miss Raggedy Ann

Mr. Raggedy Andy

Loaded up in the wagon!!!
And off we go!!!!!

It was a very pleasant evening with one trip around the block for some candy to be eaten my Mommy and Daddy and Rocco in bed by 7:45!! Jillian followed shortly behind me!! Perfect!!!!
I am already planning what I can come up with for next year! Now I will have to make 3 of them happy in their costumes!! This is becoming difficult!!!

Dreams Do Come True

Saturday night, we made the trek up to Austin with the WHOLE fam to see the Texas Longhorns beat up on the Baylor Bears (more on that sad story in a minute).

The traffic up to Austin was AWFUL!!!!! Even though we left 3 hours in advance of game time, the trip, which usually takes an hour, took us over 2! The kids were not happy and my mom (the reigning queen of this fam) was NOT happy!!!

We got to the game and the men dropped us women off with the kids. My mom was trying to lead us through the gates and ramps to find our seats. It felt like we walked for days and up 17 ramps carrying 4 children (and 1 in utero) and we still had not reached our seats!!!! We were exhausted.

BUT out of the corner of my eye, I saw something!!!! The Texas Pom squad was gathered under the grandstands. I yelled to my Mom to stop and bring the kids back. With a big roll of her eyes (we Allen women are big eye rollers) and a very annoyed look on her face, she brought the kids back to wear I was standing.

The trip to Austin was well worth the stress in the next few moments. I bent down and picked Jillian up and asked her if she wanted to meet the Texas cheerleaders. Her face lit up like the 4th of July. I walked her over and together we met some of the nicest (and the most beautiful) Southern girls in the State of TX. Look at her face!!!!!!

Now, my Roc, he is NOBODY'S fool!!!!!! Did I mention these girls were gorgeous???? He could not take his eyes off of these cheerleaders!!! I could NOT get him to look at the camera. If I were smarter, I should have had some of the cheerleaders stand behind my camera!!!!

After we left the cheerleaders, Jillian gave me the BIGGEST hug and said, "Mommy, I got to hold the cheerleaders' pom-poms and I am so happy!!! Done!! Trip worth it!! Made the 3 year old happy!!!!

So we made it to our seats and saw the TX band put on its show!!! Very sad to report that this was the best TX looked all night!!!!

Rocco was NOT impressed with the Longhorns' 3 field goals in the first half. He was more interested in climbing under everyone's legs.

But the loss of the football game could not dull the stars in this girl's eyes, she is a true fan and bleeds orange like her momma and was still hooking 'em at the end of the game!!!!

Pajama Gymnastics

On Thursday, Jillian got to wear her pjs to gymnastics. She was soooooo excited about this!!! She picked our her Disney princess (what a surprise!) pjs a week before and kept asking me if I had washed them so she could wear them!

She does such a great job on the bars!!!
Even upside down!!!

She crab-walks like a champ!!

and rolls with the best of 'em!!!

Such a fun day!!! Grammie got to go in with her and she really showed off her skills!!!

Transformation

Last Saturday, I was on my own with the kids. I made the big girl decision to take the kids to the beauty shop/barber shop. Not only was Jillian going to get a big chop, but after months and months of listening to Bryan whine about Rocco's hair, I decided it was time for Rocco's first cut!!!
Jillian went first! She behaved perfectly!!!!
In this picture, you can really see how much we chopped off!!!
Then it was Rocco's turn!!!! I didn't know how he would do, but maybe it was Jillian's great example, but he did awesome!!!!!!
Bye, bye sweet curls!!!! Do you hear Mommy's heart breaking???
He even did well when she pulled out the clippers to clean up around his ears!!!!
Voila!!!! Transformation central!!!!!! Look at him!!! Doesn't he look different????
Both kiddos were properly rewarded with a "pop" as Rocco calls them for their great behavior at the salon!!!!
On Sunday, our church finally had its pumpkin patch open and ready for business!!! But nobody was in the mood to do any smiling!!!!
Jillian finally gave in and gave me one smile.
Rocco just kept asking "why?" He did not understand why there were so many pumpkins at church???
This is the best shot I could get of the two of them. Rocco was not going to smile no matter how much I promised him!!!!
BUT he did want to show me his new tooth that has come in!!!! Such a funny kid!!!

Busy Does NOT Describe It!

Life has been beyond crazy lately!! I cannot stop to catch my breath for one spare moment.
This weekend started out with a fun PNO at our church. The kiddos had soooo much fun playing with their friends, and Bryan and I had so much fun playing with their friends' parents for a night out of dinner and adult conversation!!!

Then on Saturday, Jillian and I had a mommy/daughter date at the Majestic Theatre to see Beauty and the Beast! It started at 2:00 which is during Jillian's nap time. Let's just say - Jillian did the best she could. After every song in the first act, Jillian said "Mommy, after this song, I need to take a nap at Grammie's and Poppy's." Then it changed to "Mommy, you said in a minute I could take a nap at Grammie and Poppy's"

Then Saturday night, we joined the fam for Saturday night football. Reagan was playing Bryan and my alma mater - the Macarthur Brahmas!!! So fun to watch but not if you were Reagan. Our old team spanked Brandon's team and no one was happy on the way home!

Then Sunday, we met my Grandmother at the DQ in Devine and followed it up with our annual trip to Devine Acres Farm. So much fun!!!!

This was the best picture I got of the fearsome twosome!!!

Rocco would NOT loosen his death grip on my camera the entire trip. It went in the sand with him, in the water with him, etc. Good thing for extra cameras!!

Rocco was surprisingly good at the duck races!

Jillian and Gavin were off to the trike races!!!

Rocco needed a little assistance!

Jillian did great!!!

They played on the playground for hours!

Finally, it was time for some good 'ole fishin'!!!!

They didn't catch anything because they were too busy talking about how to fix the world's big problems!!

Can you tell from the last couple of posts how much Jillian loves her Poppy??

Enchanted Rock

Last Saturday, this is what I tried to conquer with 2 toddlers...climbing Enchanted Rock outside of Fredericksburg. I cannot tell you how gorgeous the day was!!! Breathtaking!!!!

Here is our crew at the beginning....before any climbing commenced. Notice we are still smiling??

Poor Uncle Bill-Bill!!!!! This is how Rocco "climbed." That is a lot of toddler to carry for long periods of time!!! He also refused to eat or throw away the rice krispy treat he had in his hands??

Jillian LOVED it!!!!

We gave R a chance to explore!!!

They really loved playing on the bench about 30 feet up the Rock.

These next two pics melt my heart to an extreme pile of mush. My two free spirits!!! My sweet, adventurous father and my sweet, follow-him-anywhere girl.

What a pair!!!!

It was quite a day!!! We really enjoyed ourselves!! But once we got back to the car, it didn't take long for this to happen....
