Sick x 2

Both the kids are sick. Boooo!
Both have ear infections! Booo!!

Remember Jillian is allergic to lots of medicines?

This time, Jillian's medicine smells awful and looks like glue. It is white and chalky and super thick and as you can imagine, she does not want to take it. I dread the mornings and the evenings when I have to put her in a headlock and force the medicine down her throat! AWFUL!!!!!!!

On Wednesday, they were lethargic all morning and so I tried to pep them up in the afternoon with a little painting.

Doesn't she look thrilled??
Now we're perking up!!

She's into it now!! We're getting messy! Alll-righty then!!

Creating something beautiful!!!

Ta-Da!! Here it is!!

Rocco, don't eat the paintbrush!! I'll feed you, I promise!!

I am soooo exhausted! I need a break!

Got them cleaned up and eating Cheerios and sharing their favorite stool (Aunt Masure, they just LOVE their stools).

They are feeling a little bit better today but the battle over Jillian's medicine will likely kill me.

Happy Friday!

Jonah and Fancy Nancy

Happy Friday!

Lots of questions about the house! Here are a few answers.....

Where are we moving? This was a great debate in our house for quite a while. We want to be closer to our families but we don't like the schools that area provides. We don't really want to move near our jobs as it would be ever farther from our families. Our goal is to move closer to Thousand Oaks/Redland Rd and 1604 area. It is important for us to have easy access to 1604 as B and I still work off 35. Schools really don't matter since I am lucky enough to be able to bring my children to school with me and then they can continue through my school system until high school (a very nice perk)!

Why now? Well, we are slowly outgrowing our house and a little more room is needed. We do not need a huge house but a little bigger would be nice. Also this whole rebate thing is a nice perk. We have lived in our house for more than 5 years so we qualify for the $6,500 tax rebate.

If it doesn't sell, no big deal. This is not a must situation for us.

Anyways, as for the title of this post. Here's the situation:

Driving home last night, Jillian starts talking about Jonah and the whale (one of her favorite stories). She starts asking why Jonah didn't listen to God. The story uses big words like "compassion" and "mercy." I explained that Jonah just couldn't believe that God would give the people of Ninavah compassion and mercy but that we should all give people a second chance.

Silence.

Then she says, "Mommy, can you believe Jonah is just like Fancy Nancy (her other favorite story)?"

Me = Silence.

Then I asked the question. "Jillian, how is Jonah just like Fancy Nancy?"

In her expert voice, Jillian calmly explained to her idiot mother:

"Mommy, Jonah should have had mercy and Fancy Nancy says merci to her friends."

Got that everybody?? Now you know that Jonah and Fancy Nancy are just alike!

Happy weekend!!

House, terrible 3s, no Olympics, clothes-aholic

Sorry for the long wait between posts but we have been busy as usual!
Well, our house is officially on the market. This is very exciting for me and also very terrifying! I am very uncomfortable with things I have never done before. I am a creature of habit. I come from a long line of creatures of habit. But I am getting out of my comfort zone and selling it!

So if you want this house (or know someone who does :-) You know how to get ahold of me!
What else? I am very sad to say that I think Jillian has entered the terrible 3s with a vengeance. She can be a sweet angel one second and a devil child the next. She is having lots of tantrums and drama over the littlest things like brushing her teeth or putting on clothes (especially the socks) or whatever. I hope it gets better quickly because it wears on everybody.

Along this same line, Jillian’s stint as a ballerina may have come to a close. When it is time to get dressed in a leotard and go to class, Jillian has been throwing a fit. A gargantuan fit! Maybe it’s the terrible 3s, maybe she doesn’t like the leotard, maybe she is immature for it, maybe she doesn’t like dancing? But Mom doesn’t want to mess with it (and pay for it) if Jillian is not ready. (Do you hear that? Do you hear it? That’s my heart breaking!) Hopefully, we can try again next year.

What else? I am in a total funk lately. I feel tired all of the time. I have been going to bed at 8:30 or 9:00. I feel exhausted all the time it seems! I have NO interest in the Olympics! Zero, zip, nada. I have not watched it all and that is not like me. In my defense, I will say that I think the winter Olympics are just too abstract for me. I mean, snow, what is that? Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, luge – not in my world. The summer Olympics of sand and swimming pools – that’s what I am about!!

Finally, I am taking the first steps and admitting that I am a clothes-aholic! Not for myself (well, I would be if my body would cooperate and be some normal size) but for my kids. Most of the spring catalogues are out and I am obsessed with all things brother/sister matching. When did this happen? When did I become such a freak? It doesn’t matter where it is from Gymboree, crazy8, children’s place, orient expressed, kelly’s kids but I spend lots of time analyzing which is the cutest, adorable, brother/sister ensemble. Who does that? I feel like a moron! Get a life already! But it’s like I can’t help myself. I will give you a little taste of the cuteness that will be adorning my children when the weather warms up!
There is a great debate in my head right now about their Easter attire. (Can you believe I just admitted that?) My heart really wants the purple outfits but will Rocco murder me when he grows up and sees himself in the lavender john-john?? Should I play it safe and go with the same outfits in blue/green? (I know, I know. I have an appointment with my therapist on Monday. There are starving people in Haiti and I am worried about what colors for Easter. I will make another appointment for Wednesday too.)

Finally, my mom has returned to a hobby she had a long, long time ago - sewing. As with most of the women on my mom's side of the family, she has extreme talents when they set their mind to it. So needless to say, my Mom is feeding my clothes-aholic-ness by making several ADORABLE outfits for the kids. I don't have pictures of them yet but I'll work on that!

Peace in the middle East!

Favorite Things Friday

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

On Fridays, I am going to try something new. I am going to write about one of my many favorite things.
Today is about the books that Jillian is reading.

This is an oldie but goodie. Jillian has this book completely memorized from cover to cover. Everytime she reads it and comes to the last page, my heart just melts.
I forget about all the mistakes we make and know we are God's sweetest gift of love!

Next is a new book that she got for Christmas.....Jillian just loves this book.

This book has some great pictures and some awesome vocabulary. I love the fact that at the age of 3, Jillian knows what a cyclops is! Isn't that great? Thanks to this book.

I am very into the Golden Books. Most are only $3.00. A good price for a new book nowadays. Jillian loves this book. And I love when she stops me and says "Mommy, this is my part." Can you tak a guess? She yells with her big, scary wolf-voice, "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in." I love it!!

If Jillian already had a biography written about her, this is it!!!! Look at the little girl on the cover, it even looks like Jillian. This is about a little girl taking care of her dolls throughout the day. Has Jillian down to a T!!!

Finally, we all love this book!! The rhymes are so perfect. It makes everybody laugh! A perfect bedtime story with all of that llama drama!!!

We read about 5 books a night so this is just a small sampling of the books we love. If you have a favorite book, please share!!!!

Turned Around and This Is What I Found!

Oh vey!! I am getting the kids undressed for bath time. I did Rocco first and then turned to undress Jillian. When I turned around ----- look what he is up to!!!!

The kid can climb! The kid is in the 85th percentile for height! He has got long arms like his Mommy. He will copy ANYTHING Jillian does! You know what all of that equals???? T-R-O-U-B-L-E (as Travis Tritt would say)!!!!

But so dang cute!!!

I have got jury duty tomorrow!! That should be interesting!!

New Pics

So where have I been? Everybody was sick - kids had strep throat at the beginning and ended with a nasty stomach virus (causing lots of throw up), Bryan had the stomach virus (but troubles with the other end) and I am battling a sinus infection.

For a brief moment on Saturday, the kids were not throwing up and I took them to get their picture taken to celebrate birthday #3 and #1. As always, they are just way to cute for words (even sick)!!!!
Here are some funny ones!

Diagnosis

Both kids have strep throat! Booooooooo!
Jillian's strep is also causing the rash! Booooo!
Both kids have a stomach virus causing Jillian to have diarrhea and Rocco to throw up! Booooooo!

Both are taking antibiotics but not the same ones because Jillian is allergic to Rocco's medicine.

Mommy is throwing away toothbrushes, sterilizing bottles, washing/sterilizing all sippy cups (you know, all 5,000 between the two of them) and washing sheets.

Praying for a quick recovery!
