House, terrible 3s, no Olympics, clothes-aholic

Sorry for the long wait between posts but we have been busy as usual!
Well, our house is officially on the market. This is very exciting for me and also very terrifying! I am very uncomfortable with things I have never done before. I am a creature of habit. I come from a long line of creatures of habit. But I am getting out of my comfort zone and selling it!

So if you want this house (or know someone who does :-) You know how to get ahold of me!
What else? I am very sad to say that I think Jillian has entered the terrible 3s with a vengeance. She can be a sweet angel one second and a devil child the next. She is having lots of tantrums and drama over the littlest things like brushing her teeth or putting on clothes (especially the socks) or whatever. I hope it gets better quickly because it wears on everybody.

Along this same line, Jillian’s stint as a ballerina may have come to a close. When it is time to get dressed in a leotard and go to class, Jillian has been throwing a fit. A gargantuan fit! Maybe it’s the terrible 3s, maybe she doesn’t like the leotard, maybe she is immature for it, maybe she doesn’t like dancing? But Mom doesn’t want to mess with it (and pay for it) if Jillian is not ready. (Do you hear that? Do you hear it? That’s my heart breaking!) Hopefully, we can try again next year.

What else? I am in a total funk lately. I feel tired all of the time. I have been going to bed at 8:30 or 9:00. I feel exhausted all the time it seems! I have NO interest in the Olympics! Zero, zip, nada. I have not watched it all and that is not like me. In my defense, I will say that I think the winter Olympics are just too abstract for me. I mean, snow, what is that? Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, luge – not in my world. The summer Olympics of sand and swimming pools – that’s what I am about!!

Finally, I am taking the first steps and admitting that I am a clothes-aholic! Not for myself (well, I would be if my body would cooperate and be some normal size) but for my kids. Most of the spring catalogues are out and I am obsessed with all things brother/sister matching. When did this happen? When did I become such a freak? It doesn’t matter where it is from Gymboree, crazy8, children’s place, orient expressed, kelly’s kids but I spend lots of time analyzing which is the cutest, adorable, brother/sister ensemble. Who does that? I feel like a moron! Get a life already! But it’s like I can’t help myself. I will give you a little taste of the cuteness that will be adorning my children when the weather warms up!
There is a great debate in my head right now about their Easter attire. (Can you believe I just admitted that?) My heart really wants the purple outfits but will Rocco murder me when he grows up and sees himself in the lavender john-john?? Should I play it safe and go with the same outfits in blue/green? (I know, I know. I have an appointment with my therapist on Monday. There are starving people in Haiti and I am worried about what colors for Easter. I will make another appointment for Wednesday too.)

Finally, my mom has returned to a hobby she had a long, long time ago - sewing. As with most of the women on my mom's side of the family, she has extreme talents when they set their mind to it. So needless to say, my Mom is feeding my clothes-aholic-ness by making several ADORABLE outfits for the kids. I don't have pictures of them yet but I'll work on that!

Peace in the middle East!

My totally unsolicted opinion on the dance classes . . . I found with teaching the munchkins, that five was really a good age to start them. Their attention span is better, they're more cooperative, and I think they have a better idea about what they really like and don't like. The ones younger than that tended to be tempramental about things, which is understandable.

And the matching outfits...I'd go with the blue/green ones even though the purple is adorable. Would Rocco be mortified with the purple one, well of course! But isn't that what the rehearsal dinner slide show is all about? They'll be the cutest in either.

And I have to admit that I didn't even know about this world of matching bro/sis outfits until you. None of my other friends seem to do it.

I didn't know you were going to be putting your house on the market. Where are you looking to move? Scarlett started dance when she was 5 and I would say that is the perfect age too. They probably won't really have memories of it earlier and really what skills are being taught when they are 3? As for those cute outfits...I really like the green and blue. :-) And...thank you so much for your sweet note and the darling valentine picture of your kids. They are darling.

Have we met? What is this about your house? I just talked to you last week!

I looked at that same boho stuff on kelly's kids. Shocking, I know.

oh my. we have lots in common :)

as jaime said, i didn't start scarlett in dance until this year and she's done well-maybe 5 is the magic age.

where are you moving? we are thinking of getting our house on the market too, but are moving kind of slow.

i loved making my kids match too, but sadly now that clark is 2 1/2 brody has kind of squashed my obsession. i love either outfit and think that if you really love the purple, do it now because next year he may be too old to get away with that color...at least in a jon jon anyway
