On Monday, October 6, 2014, I had a date. I was to be at the hospital at 6 am to be induced. Bryan and I were so excited. For 9 months, we had resisted the temptation to find out the sex of baby #4. It has been so hard as Bryan and I are "finder-outers" and I am a planner. As you know, I like to plan the kids' rooms, clothes and the list could go on and on.
The process was slow. I was dialating at a snail's pace. Finally, I was feeling enough discomfort to get the epidural and that went fine and I just kept waiting. Still moving super slow. At some point in the afternoon, we were all sitting around the room chit-chatting - Bryan, my Mom, my Dad, my sister, and Bill, but things got a little weird. I could hear them talking to me and asking me questions, but I couldn't respond. I was feeling tired and almost like I was blacking out. I hear the beep-beeps going crazy and the nurses come in and my blood pressure has dropped very very VERY low. They quickly pump me full of fluids and give me some medicine to bring up my blood pressure. Slowly but surely I came back to life.
I was stuck at 6 cm forever. A nurse came in and said they are learning a new technique in nursing school these days and they were going to try it out on me. OK???? They put me on my side almost all the way on my belly and hoisted one of my legs in a stirrup. I looked crazy-weird. They draped a huge sheet on me to let me keep some kind of dignity but I still looked like a circus tent.
BUT her magic trick worked. I literally could feel the baby dropping in that strange position. In no time at all, I was at 10 cm. I pushed several times and the head came out. I remember asking if the head had a lot of hair. But then the body came out and everybody was scrambling to see the goods. Summer yelled that it was a boy but the Doc said, "Ehh, no. ITS A GIRL!!!!"
Here she is.....Channing Elyse Pearce. 7 lbs 2 ozs and 20 1/2 inches long.
Getting foot-printed....
My wonderful Italian doctor!!!
How lucky am I? Dr. Carroll has delivered all 4 of my kids!!! The kids were there within 10-15 minutes and had LOTS of questions.
They were very disturbed by all of the cords and machines I was hooked up to. Rocco was truly worried and upset. He started crying...really boo-hooing and Bryan had to take him out of the room. Broke my heart. You can see he is not happy in the pic.
I crashed Summer's birth day so she crashed mine!!! That's how the Allen-Pearce girls roll!!! She didn't know it but she wore the right color for the day!!
I love them so!!!
On Wednesday, they released us. Channing has jaundice but so far, a mild case. She loves sticking out her tongue and is cuter than words!!!
Mommy and Daddy were so ready to get home!
