Are you ready to laugh?

We are entering a certain stretch of time in the P household.  In Bryan's rotating work schedule, there are two weeks where he works 8 out of 9 days straight.  IT. IS. KILLER.  He leaves at 5:30 in the evening and returns around 7 or 7:30 in the am.  Sooooooo, that means he is really of no help to me in the evenings with anything.  (NO bitterness here)

So let's just say last time this happened, with me by myself with the kids every night for 9 nights in a row, things got a little out of control..........

The kids got really quiet in their room.  I knew they were up to something.
Voila!!  They came out in Jillian's old gymnastic leotards.
Everybody did......

including Little Miss.....

Getting ready to perform......

Wait....costume change and get the microphones..........

THERE.ARE.NO.WORDS.FOR.THIS.BOY

Little Miss got the mike too!

Finally I wanted to show ya'll a cute pic of something my Mom got Hadleigh for Christmas.  A cute (matching of course) outfit for her doll.  She was the TALK of her school at show and tell!!!

Let's see what happens on this stretch of 9 nights by myself in a row!!

Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!

This could be my favorite birthday party EVER!!!!!  We just kept things short and simple.

Theme:  Cat in the Hat
Colors:  Turquoise and red

Here is the Pièce de résistance

Mom worked so hard on this cake.  The problem was the red icing.  Do you know how hard it is to make red icing??  No matter how much dye we added, it was still slightly pink.  Then we couldn't find anymore red dye at the stores.  When all was said and done, we used 5 full bottles/containers of red dye to achieve this color.  We also stained everyone's teeth red in the process.  Very funny!!

I made the Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes!

Needed a good Dr. Seuss quote!

My handmade birthday banner!

Added Cat in the Hat to my wreath.....

Had a Cat out front to welcome everyone in......Rocco wore a cute Thing t-shirt!

Jillian got a cute Cat in the Hat dress off Etsy......

And Hadleigh got a cute Cat in the Hat and Thing 1/2 dress!!!

Seriously, isn't she the cutest???  She wasn't at the party for 5 minutes when she fell and busted her lip open.  Blood all over her white turtleneck and huge gash on top lip.  Huge sigh..........

We had lots of games....first musical chairs then we had two teams race to put a puzzle together.  They worked really hard!!!!

Rocco's team won!!!

Everyone got a hat!!!!

We had so many cousins, neighbors and friends come over.  It was a really good day!!!

He is 4!!!

This handsome boy is 4 today.  Sigh.......  This morning, I was in the bathroom putting on my make-up and he walked in and said, "Moommmm, don't you want to tell me something?"  Ha!  He cracks me up!  He wanted breakfast in bed and Daddy obliged and ran and got donuts and served his Royal Highness in bed. Such a "tough boy" in those boots!

He is a child so full of joy!  I love this picture because this is how Rocco is - head thrown back and laughing.

What does this 4 year old like right now?

Favorite color:  yellow
Favorite fruit:  strawberries
Favorite veggie:  green beans
Favorite TV show:  Peppa Pig
Favorite superhero:  Captain America
Favorite song:  Itsy Bitsy Spider (cuz that's what Hadleigh likes) Awwwww!
Favorite game:  playing teacher
Favorite friends:  Carson and Case

This boy is so full of personality!!!

My idea this year was to take these "great photos" on the train tracks behind our house.  That would be a great idea but these train tracks are active.  So during my photo shoot with Rocco, I heard a train behind me.....this is my blurry photo as I bolted and picked Rocco up and raced for safety.  Ha!!  It was so funny!  Rocco is traumatized.  He keeps saying, "Bad Train!!  Run us over!!"  Ha ha!!  We're fine!!  Just always an adventure in our house.

My First DIY Project of the Year!

I have been lusting after a new wreath.  I wanted a "yarn wreath."  This is what I am talking about.....I think these are so pretty!  BUT they all run on average $35 - 40 plus shipping...

Soooooo, I thought I would try to make one!  I know, I can hear the snickering in the background.  So I have been researching online - reading craft blogs and watching tutorials and really, it kind of looked easy.  So I went to my local craft shop and Wal-Mart and got my supplies.

And I started wrapping and wrapping and wrapping.  It was going well until the yarn snagged and tangled and then it took me two hours to wrap the wreath.

Then I had a little helper and we made some rosettes out of felt.

This was my favorite part.  The rosettes are sooooooo easy and they look so cute!!!

Voila!  Here is my new wreath!!  Isn't it cute!!  I can't believe I made it.  And CHEAP!  With my Hobby Lobby coupons and Wal-Mart, I spent about $12.  Not bad!!

Here is a close-up of my flowers!

More on why I picked these colors later.....
