Take Me Out to the Ball Game

We had a special treat today.  The Texas Rangers came to town to show us South Texans how the MLB players get it done!

Rocco and Jillian were excited to see some "boys swing a bat."

He is not sweet all of the time but I love when I capture him being loving towards his cousin.

Poor Daddy got about an hour of sleep after getting off work and I am not sure he knew where he was today.  ha!

Jillian was very curious about the baseball process and Poppy was MORE than thrilled to give her the lowdown.

Go Rangers!

Nolan Ryan threw the first pitch and of course, being SA, the military repelled from the roof to deliver the ball.

Rocco loved using the "vincoculoos" to see the batters up close!

Thanks Grammie and Poppy for such a nice treat!

Palm Sunday and Hunt #3

Palm Sunday started off with a bang as Jillian was throwing up.  As any level-headed Mommy would do, I told her to toughen up because she had to sing in the choir today.  We dressed the kids in their Easter best and I had the presence of mind to put an old towel over Jillian as we rode to church.  Thank God!  Because she puked in the car too!  But I have trained my daughter well because she puked perfectly into the towel and did not get a speck of throw up on her new dress!  The funniest thing was while she was yakking, the other two kids were watching her and started gagging.  I was yelling at them to not throw up too because they did not have a safety towel.  It was so awful that it was hilarious!

Anyways, we didn't get any pictures of the kids in the Palm Processional because this year Mommy was in the processional.  I was in charge of Rocco's class.  All 3 kids did wonderfully.  It is always entertaining to see how the "behave" in the sanctuary.  At the 11:00 service, Jillian sang.  There is something just perfect about her in the robe and yoke.

Seriously, you cannot even tell the girl does not feel good.  Uncle Bill-Bill told her to give us the "horns" if she could see us.  I captured the moment perfectly.

After church all of the kids were giddy with excitement for the big Easter egg hunt.

The "big" kids were on the playground and Bryan and I went with them.  The babies were on the lawn with my parents and Sum and Bill.

Everybody got LOTS of eggs and were thrilled with their goodies.  We have discovered that Hadleigh is insane about candy and will go to any lengths to get it including eating the candy with the paper still on.

Hadleigh is getting so much better at actually smiling at the camera!  It was so cold and windy!

I really want to get better at taking pictures of our family and not just the kids.

Hunts 1 and 2

I am struggling to find time to blog.  Between sick kids, lots of deadlines at work, messy house, grocery shopping, holiday preparations, I am just letting the blog suffer.

BUT we did a lot of fun stuff this weekend that I wanted to record.

First my MOPS group hosted an egg hunt on Saturday morning.  Even though it is March in SA which usually means 90 degree weather, we have been suffering through a cold snap.  The early morning hunt was chilly.

This girl fell out of a chair last week (face first) and her beautiful face was mangled but that didn't stop her from stealing other kids' candy!!  ha!!

Here is a group shot of all the kiddos

Rocco played photographer and took this pic of the mommies.  He did pretty good!!

Then Saturday afternoon, HEB hosted its annual egg hunt.  Jillian petted animals.

Surprisingly, Hadleigh loved the bounce house.

Daddy and the kids were looking for the "golden egg" but we didn't win the big prize.  Maybe next year!!!

My Weird Boy

I have told you before how my son is OBSESSED with being a teacher.  The obsession is reaching new heights.  Grammie and Poppy have set up a full-blown "office" at their house for Rocco.  He has a desk.  He has several phones and walkie-talkies so he can be reached at all times.  He has clipboard and learning sheets.

Now his latest obsession is needing a timer.  His "kids" are not listening to him and are not cleaning up the room.  He insisted that a timer would help.

Well, Grammie to the rescue!  She found an old-fashioned timer and the boy is in heaven!
Seriously, he SLEPT with the timer last night!

Here is the prized possession that will be making its debut at tomorrow's show and tell.

On a totally different note....this is for Daon!

OF COURSE THEY HAVE SMOCKED BATHING SUITS!!!!!
THEY ARE PRECIOUS!!!

FOR GIRLS

AND FOR BOYS

Ha!!  Ha!!

What Didn't We Do?

Seriously, what didn't we do during Spring Break?  We started our adventures at the Witte to see the dinosaurs.  We were so lucky because there was no line (I think it was the drizzly weather.)

We invited KK to join us!

Rocco was enthralled with the moving, roaring dinosaurs!

Next up...a classic...Kiddie Park.  Again, we were so lucky.  Not sure where everybody was but we basically had the entire park to ourselves.  They rode the bus over and over and over again!

Thank GOD I put the seat belt on her.  I left my hand on Hadleigh and turned around to check on Jillian and crazy Hadleigh lunged after me and fell off the horse.  It is funny now but she could have gotten seriously hurt.  She was hanging from the horse in her seatbelt.  Ha ha!!

Daddy claimed the spinning would make him sick so guess who got stuck riding the alien spaceships over and over and over again?  Me, that's who!!!

Next up, the zoo.  I mean what 6 year old is obsessed with flamingos.  She talks about their feathers, their height, building their nests, what they are eating, etc.  She has already planned our next visit because flamingos lay their eggs in April.  She is sooo weird!

The okapi is really beautiful.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden hair.

Meeting the characters after the play....this was the prince.

And Rapunzel!!

What else?  A picnic with our neighbors.  This was the girls' table.

Jillian crashed the boys' table.

Bike riding....

Today, we got out the swimming pool....

and we decorated for Easter!!!

I have had a wonderful Spring Break!  I think it was the gorgeous weather!!  AND I took a nap with the kids almost every day.  I feel better and rested.  I think we have 11 weeks until summer.  Whoo-hoo!!

Zoo

Well, Jillian threw up some more and has missed 3 days of school.  Ugh!  I dragged her to school today and she has done OK.  She is still a little weak.

I am almost giddy with excitement that I don't have to work for 9 days.

What are we going to do??

We have plans to go see DINOSAURS for Rocco.

We are going to see a performance of Rapunzel at Magik Theatre for Jillian.

And the best deal in this town is the zoo.  For a family of 4 (Hadleigh doesn't count yet) to go to the SA Zoo for the day, it is $43.00.   For a yearlong membership (that you can use 365 days of the year) for a family with up to 8 CHILDREN, IT IS $70.00.  Plus I had a coupon for $10.00 off.  That is a no brainer.  We just love being members of the zoo.  You get unlimited access.  You get early hours.  You don't feel guilty if you only stay an hour or two.  Plus we have a nationally ranked zoo with tons of cool exhibits.  The kids love it!

Finally, I have requested from my family that I need a "me" day full of retail therapy!!

Doesn't that sound like heaven!!

Have a good Sprink Break!!!

Cuz we Wuz Sick

Sorry no posting but.......
Last week, Hadleigh had the throw ups.  This week it is Jillian.

Hadleigh slept in her throw up all night because I did not hear her throw up and my Mom discovered her in the morning.  Seriously, I am a terrible mommy.

Jillian made things more dramatic.  After falling asleep at 10:30/11:00, I was awakened at 12:30 to Mommy, I think......BLAH.  All over my bed.  Including the comforter.  I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!  It is so hard to clean the comforter.  Then I bathed her, got it out of her hair and then put her in her bed.  Rocco was already in my bed on the other side so I trasferred him to his bed and then cleaned up all of the sheets and put everything in the laundry room to be handled in the morning.

I then joined Jillian in her twin bed because my room stank of throw up and fell back asleep around 1:30.  Round 2 started at 4:00 when I woke up with something wet and gross on my back!!  Awesome!  To the shower for me and Jillian and we proceeded to wake up Rocco.  He was alert and ready to start the day at 4:15.

Since we had run out of beds, I took everybody to the couch and put on Disney Jr. and made Rocco his cinnamin rolls because he wouldn't let it go!!!!  I have been washing sheets and comforters ever since.

This girl is all better though!!!  This is why I hate taking pictures on my phone!  They are always blurry!

I took them to school this morning and they were quite upset Jillian had to stay home another day.

Hadleigh is so much bigger than Jillian ever was.  This outfit was actually kind of tight on her.
Same outfit but Jillian is wearing it at age 3+.

2 more days and I am on Spring Break!!!  Whoo-hooo!!!
